Ableism.

Ableism describes giving preferential treatment to people who have the full, typical use of their bodies and brains, or a system that is constructed without consideration or accommodation for those who may not, i.e., the disabled.

Ableist language.

Ableist language is language that disparages disabled people or their disabilities. Using words that identify disabilities (blind, deaf, stupid, etc.) as metaphors, analogies, or insults can also constitute ableist language. Yes, in naming the blog “Name That Loon”, I am engaging in the use of ableist language.
